The new Strategic Plan of the Port of Tarragona, approved on December 16, 2008, revised the mission statement, vision and values of the APT.

Mission of the Tarragona Port Authority

TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF ITS ENVIRONMENT IN A SUSTAINABLE FASHION, IN A CONTEXT OF MAXIMUM COMPETITIVENESS, PROMOTING THE MODERNISATION AND ADAPTATION OF THE PORT INFRASTRUCTURES FOR THE DELIVERY OF ADDED VALUE SERVICES, IN A FRAMEWORK OF COHESION BETWEEN THE MEMBERS OF THE PORT COMMUNITY, PROMOTING THE PROFESSIONAL IMPLEMENTATION OF ITS HUMAN ASSETS.

The Tarragona Port Authority will carry out its mission driven by a firm commitment to management quality, through the development of an environmentally-friendly activity and according to sustainability-based criteria, with a guarantee of safety, optimisation, competitively leveraging its resources, integrated in international logistics networks, promoting investment and private initiative, and with special attention to the human assets of the organisation and the port community overall.

Vision of the Port Authority of Tarragona

The APT must orient its efforts towards:

• Consolidating leadership in the port system in bulk liquid and solid cargo traffic.
• Developing strategy to become a logistics port of reference, promoting the logistic pole of south-west Europe.
• Being an intermodal point of reference and a reference for integration in motorways of the sea programmes.
• Being recognised for its importance in the economic activity of Catalonia and of the Vall de l'Ebre.
